TJ Hartman Racing - Update: Gremlins!

Lismore, NSW Australia - January 5, 2013...

What looked to be two wins in a row for the Sid Whittaker Racing Q57 with driver TJ Hartman aboard, turned into heartbreak with just two laps remaining in the contest.  After leading a good portion of the race in dominating fashion, an engine oil line came loose and resulted in a DNF for the Puyallup, WA based driver.  No damage resulted, and the team loaded up and will prepare for the next contest this coming Tuesday night (QLD local time) at Archerfield Speedway.

The night in Lismore began with TJ drawing outside front row for the first heat race.  He quickly jumped into the lead, before handling issues from a blown shock dropped him back. "I managed to finish second," he states. "We fixed the shock and made some changes for the next race."

Starting out of position three in the next heat, the action would find TJ running in second for a time before taking the checkered flag where he started - in third place.  TJ talks about the night as it progressed: "I made a call on the setup and it was off a little.  I'm learning these cars pretty quick, and I'm comfortable enough in them that I have a lot of confidence on the track.  I knew reading the track for the main event was going to be critical."

Hartman would line up for the start of the evenings main event outside of the third row.  He wasted little time climbing his way to the top of the running order.  "David (Lander) had a lot of entertainment lined up for the night, and he had to cut our laps down to meet the curfew,"  stated TJ.  "I knew we had some work to do but I knew it could be done.  Right away I knew I had a good car even though I lost the brakes.  It felt good to get to the front and I really feel like we had a dominant car even with the brake problem."

TJ would lead the way for a host of good cars that had made the trek to Lismore Speedway.  Unfortunately, trouble reared it's ugly head just two laps short of the checkered flag when smoke signaled a problem from the Esslinger powered machine.  "We just can't take a chance in hurting an engine," stated the disappointed driver.  "As with all forms of racing, anything can happen.  I had such a dominant car, and it is just unfortunate to have something happen while running up front.  The good thing is nothing is damaged and we are able to race in just a few short days.  I feel as confident as anything headed into Archerfield (Speedway) on Tuesday night."

The team returned to it's homebase in Queensland in preparation for Tuesday's round 5 of the Polar Ice Midget Series at Brisbane's Archerfield Speedway.  TJ is looking forward to the return.  "Being in the car as often as possible is great for me as a driver because it becomes second nature, and it also helps the team because it keeps our minds sharp.  I have a great crew that is working hard for me, and I can't thank them all enough."

TJ knows with prepartion and focus comes consistency.  "I know I have a team and a car that can be put up front.  And I know everything will be in tip top shape and we can all focus on the task at hand.  Sid and Col have great equipment and we just need to stay focused."

Next scheduled stop - Turning up the heat in Brisbane!
