TJ Hartman Racing - UPDATE - A pair of B-main finishes on back to back nights.

Puyallup, WA - May 25, 2008...

Running the ASCS Northwest Series races was not in the 2008 plans for TJ Hartman Racing. But the desire to be on the race track, and a bit of self confidence from TJ coupled with words of encouragement from his fellow local competitors, helped make a change to the original schedule.

TJ describes the weekend: "We decided at the last minute to go ahead and run one of the nights and just see how it went. The car ran great and we made some really good changes to the car on Saturday night so it drove good too." TJ was not able to transfer to the A-main through his heat race or the B-main qualifier. "I was just stuck in the back and really wasn't in a position to do anything, so I decided to just start searching the track to get a feel for doing different things. If I had known my car worked that good up on the top, I would have done it a lot earlier."

The finishing result of the first night wasn't impressive, but the 16 year old Puyallup, WA High School Sophmore showed he was learning, which was the purpose of running this weekend with the big guns in town. TJ continues: "We worked my dad over pretty good, and he was happy with what I did the first night, so we decided to run the second night. I'm a little disappointed I didn't make the A-main either night because the track was just how I like it, and my crew worked really hard. But I was able to learn some different things about how the car reacted, and I think it was a worthwhile weekend."

The team used the opportunity to spend the entire holiday weekend at the Grays Harbor Raceway, camping and hanging out with friends. TJ goes on to describe the off track activities: "It was just like when we started racing quarter midgets. It felt good to be at the track all weekend, and I think it was really good experience to do the maintenance on the car at the track and race two nights in a row. It was really cool having people come over and talk with us while we were working on the car. I had a lot of fun, even though it's a ton of work."
