TJ Hartman Racing - UPDATE - TJ Celebrates His Rookie Season

Puyallup, WA - October 11, 2008...

To cap off a successful rookie season in his Wesmar powered Maxim at the Grays Harbor Raceway, TJ and his team attended the Circle of Champions Banquet to honor the achievements of the racers, crews, fans, sponsors, and raceway staff. While certainly not the first racing banquet the teenager has ever attended, it was his first celebration of participating with adults in the racing environment. Compliments for the youngster were aplenty, with a little funning around mixed in. Good times for all.

The Master of Ceremonies was none other than GHR announcer Phil Martelli. This makes it special in that Phil is very acquainted with all of the racers, and knew just how to put the finishing touches on each drivers recognition. A social hour, dinner, and then awards ceremony, took up most of the evening, and when it was completed, many of the teams wandered off into the night not ready for the season to end.

TJ and his team are already busy making plans for next season, and as the plans get finalized, we will keep everyone apprised via the updates and web site. This week, TJ writes the appreciation he has for those who helped make his rookie season such a great success.

In TJ's own words:

There are many people who made it possible for me to have a successful 2008 season. Not just the sponsors, but people like the safety crews, announcers, and my crew.

First, I would like to recognize the Grays Harbor Raceway safety crew. They are truly the best in the business. I had one flip at GHR this year where I went all the way over. The safety crew was there before I even had a chance to catch my breath. They always made sure I was okay every time I hit the race track. Which makes me feel comfortable while I'm racing. I hope I won't be seeing you guys as much next year! ;-)

Next I would like to thank all of the tow truck and push truck drivers. I also saw too much of you guys this year! But, you guys are awesome, and thanks for getting me out there, AND, sometimes getting me back!

I would also like to thank the GHR staff. You helped make my first season at GHR awesome. I have always wanted to be on the "Big Track" since I was a little kid racing quarter midgets. I always told everyone I would be racing out there one day. I reached that goal this year, and it felt great. Thank you!

Phil Martelli. You are best! You always have something good to say about me and the other drivers. And no, you don't tease me too much! :-) Thank you for recognizing all of my sponsors this year while out on the track. Thanks!

The fans and friends that came to watch. Thanks for cheering for me, and coming down in the pits to talk with me. That makes it fun to be there. And I like signing autographs and talking with everyone!

Jay Cole, Glenn Borden, Henry Van Dam - you guys and more made my first year at GHR exciting! I had a great time running with you guys. I knew it was going to be tough with you guys, and it was a great time!

I want to thank Kelly Westphal and Wesmar Racing Engines for making sure I had an engine that was reliable, and that would keep up with the fast guys. It ran great every single week, and it was nice to know we didn't have to worry about any engine problems. It sounded good on the track too! Thanks Kelly.

Next, I want to thank all of my sponsors for the 2008 season: Please show your support to all of my sponsors!

- BEACH HUT VACATIONS! ;-)
- Lacey Auto Licensing
- A1A BuyNSell
- Rockslinger
- Advanced Powder Coating
- Beckler's Mobile Welding
- Hooker Harness
- Rod End Supply
- Performance Coatings
- Simpson Race Products
- Parts Plus of Puyallup
- MPD Racing
- SLIM, Inc.

Last, but not least, I have to thank my crew.

Rob - You are the BEST car cleaner anybody could ever have. Every time the car hits the track, it is always the shiniest car out there! Thank you very much for all your time this year! It is very much appreciated!

Jim - You are my air sampler! You always know what pills to put in! It's like you have a ADR% meter in your body! And you're a good brownie sampler and eater! Thanks Jim for all of your time this year!

Marshall - Thanks for everything. Not just for Subway, and all the french fries and cheeseburgers, but for all of your advice. I hope one day I will know what to do to the setup before you do! ;-) You have always supported me since we met you, and that is very cool. Thank you!

I would also like to thank my family. My mom, dad, and my sister (The Nicki Factor) have always supported me in anything I do.

Nicki, thanks for all the pics, and for all your help on Sundays! :-) Just think, you have many Sundays off now! But racing season will be back shortly! ;-)

Mom, You don't have to freak out when I crash. I'm okay, I just want to be pushed back off! ;-) Thanks Mom!

Dad, thanks for driving me to the race track. :-) And I never fall asleep on the way to the track. I'm just - closing my eyes! ;-) Oh, and thanks for being my great crew chief. You are pretty good at it!
