TJ Hartman Racing - UPDATE - TJ Makes Final Preparations!

Puyallup, WA - April 19, 2009...

April sunshine, warm temperatures, and an energetic teenager has the team ready to hit the track for the first time in 2009. TJ and his team spent this weekend making last minute checks on the race car, and discussing Saturday night dinner menus. With a shop full of race cars, and the sun beaming down, the Puyallup, WA based team is ready to get the 2009 racing season underway.

TJ made a decision to fire the car one more time before hitting the track. He picks up the story: "We decided to skip play day, but I wanted to check a couple of things before we hit a race. We had already fired the engine after Kelly(Wesmar Racing Engines) sent it back to us, but we put a new rear end in the winged car, and I wanted to make sure it shifted OK, and I wanted to check the steering box and pump for leaks. We swapped the engine into the other car, and everything was good to go. The neighbors came out and watched again too, and hearing the engine run got me really pumped up to get racing."

Now only a week away, opening day for TJ and his team can't come soon enough. TJ continues: "We've had everything ready to go for so long, I just can't wait any longer! We spent this weekend double checking the cars and getting the trailer ready. I'm really excited, and I hope the weather is like this every weekend now. I'm really happy Rob, Jim, and Marshall are all coming back with me this year. We have a lot of fun together, and my goal for this year is to learn to read the track better so I can tell them what I need on the car. They're always behind me, and that makes me want to try harder."

TJ's crew are not the only ones behind him. "There is a lot of people who are making sure we hit the track this year." TJ states. "Diana Schlenz has notarized all of my minor release forms, and medical authorizations, because I'm not 18 yet. She has a small company called A1A Notary down in Olympia, and is helping me out this year. It helps a lot to have people like Diana step forward, especially at this time. Dennis from Lacey Auto Licensing had to back down from his sponsorship this year, but the other day he showed us he still thinks about us, and wants to be involved. I think that's pretty cool. With Hi-Tech Collision painting our fuel cell this year, and all of my product sponsors staying on board, it just helps so much, and makes me want to try that much harder."

It's not all work and no play for TJ's team though. Shaking his head, but still cracking a smile: "They tied a Spongebob Squarepants doll to the back of my seat. I was OK with that though, because Spongebob is a pretty cool guy. He's pretty much always smiling like me. I guess maybe now we'll have to whip up some Krabby Patties for dinner at the track!"
